Political Maps

  • Galicia 1882. From Blackie & Sons Atlas (Edinburgh, 1882), Scale: 1:2,700,000 (or one inch = about 42 miles) (FEEFHS web site)
  • Eastern Hungary and Galicia 1908. From Harmsworth Atlas and Gazetteer, London, 1909, Scale: 1:5,300,000 (one inch = about 84 miles) (FEEFHS web site) Shows Bukowina, but omits Krakow and other towns west of Bochnia in Western Galicia.
  • Austro-Hungarian Empire 1:200,000 Topographic Maps - 3rd Military Mapping Survey of Austria-Hungary. Index sheet of the general map of Central Europe (1:200 000). The original sheets were published about 1910. 267 sheets available. Include Galicia and Bukowina. Note: Although provincial borders are not indicated on the finding map, Galicia seems to be within the coordinates 37 – 44 (Longitude Ferro) along the top and 50 – 48 (latitude) along the right side. Look for Krakko, Tarnow, Przemysl, Lvov, Ivano-Frankivszk, Kolomija, and a few others. After a small map appears, click on it and drag for excellent visibility.   • Ukraine 1:100,000 Topographic Maps - Maps of this detail are 1 inch = 19 miles (1 cm = 10 km). The maps are in English, but do not appear to show topography. Warning: a typical map is more over 1MB in size, so downloads can take a long time.

  • Lemberg (Lwow), from a 1905 Baedeker's Austria-Hungary. Note the "Old Jewish cemetery" ("Alter Isrealin Friedhof") on the D1/D2 border, and the Synagogue on the E1/E2 border.
