Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

41457 Interpretation

7/26/2015 4:26 PM This is the (US) WWI Draft Registration card for my grandfather Abraham Rotenberg, which gives his town of origin as Zitomel, Russia. The JGen Communities database has 0 hits and the JGen Gazetteer has 28 matches using the D-M code. About 6 of these hits are possible matches for a town in either Russia or Belarus. Does anyone have any idea which town that my grandfather is from?
Question 2: Can anyone make out the second street address written below the Detroit address?

His father's name is Iser Lejzor and his mother is Raizel Radzyner
