The Jewish Genealogy Society of Long
Island (JGSLI) was founded in 1985 dedicated
to encouraging and assisting the pursuit of
Jewish family history. Our goal at the JGSLI
is to bring together people interested in
tracing their Jewish family roots.
We are a non-profit organization, run
through the efforts of our members. The
society works to encourage, assist and
educate members and the general public in
the “how to’s” of finding one’s roots. We
also collect and disseminate information on
genealogical resources and techniques as
well as promoting the preservation of and
access to Jewish records and resources.
Contrary to popular belief, a wealth of
Jewish records exist in Europe as well as
the United States and Israel. While we
cannot do research for you, we can provide
advice and information about what sources
exist and where to find them.
Meetings
are held September to June, usually on
the fourth Sunday of the month at
rotating locations around Long Island.

The varied programs include guest
lectures, workshops, roundtable
discussions and working sessions. There is
always the opportunity to network, ask
questions and learn from others.
Visitors are welcome at no charge. |
